Stage 1 Redox: Kinetically removes 91 % of chlorine through an oxidation process that also pre-conditions the water for enhanced filtration
Stage 2 Filtration: Granular activated carbon with ion exchange resin reduces VOCs, synthetic organic compounds, and heavy metals, like copper and lead. The complex ion exchange mechanism attracts heavy metal from tap water and replaces them with healthy potassium ions to balance pH and produce the closest thing to natural spring water.
INSTALLATION TIPS:
Step 1: Remove the entire BEAUTY WATER ® filter system from your shower pipe by turning the chrome swivel connector counter clockwise, or to the left. Remove the showerhead by turning the connector counter clock-wise, or to the left. Do not remove the filter cartridge while the filter is still attached to the shower pipe as this may cause damage to the filter where it connects to the shower pipe.
Step 2: While holding the upper filter housing firmly, remove the lower filter cartridge by turning it to the left, or counter clockwise. This cartridge may be disposed of with your trash, as it poses no environmental hazards.
Step 3: Unwrap the new replacement cartridge and remove the ‘pull tab’ label and the plastic shipping cap from the top end of cartridge.
Step 4: After making sure that the upper housing O-ring is still in place, rub a coating of cooking oil on the exposed surface of the O-ring to ensure a proper seal. Next install the new lower cartridge by turning it to the right. Tighten firmly by hand; if this lower filter is not tightened firmly it will leak around the seam between the upper and filter housing and the cartridge.
Step 5: Re-attach the filter system to your shower pipe by turning the chrome swivel collar clockwise or to the right. Make sure that the connector washer in the chrome swivel connector is still in place.
Step 6: Before re-attaching the showerhead, flush and activate filter media into a bucket until water runs clear. Then re-attach the showerhead and enjoy!
NOTE: the initial surge of water may be discolored due to carbon fines and may soil your shower stall. It is recommended that you capture the first 1 – 2 gallons of water in a bucket. This carbonated water is very beneficial for plants and the environment and can be discarded in a plant bed or down the drain.
Use cold water for the initial flushing; see “Note” below for flushing precaution. After the water has turned clear, adjust the temperature up to a normal shower temperature. Notice that there is a slight delay in temperature adjustment due to the volume of water in the filter; take this delay into account when making temperature adjustments. Make slight adjustment and wait 30 seconds for temperature change. Run water until clear and then turn off and then back on several times. Repeat this procedure until the initial surge of water is free of discoloration.
LIFE OF THE FILTER: Designed to last 6 months under normal conditions of use. Depending on how many people are using the same shower and how many times a day you shower, on average the filter should last 3 – 6 months. If an individual showers once or twice per day, then change the filter in 6 months. If several family members are showering once or twice per day, then the filter should be replaced about every 3 months.
